At Tennis Club Esch, tennis is more than just a sport – it is a tool for social inclusion. For the past five years, the Tennis for All project has given people who would otherwise not have access to the sport – refugees, people with disabilities, or those with Down syndrome – the opportunity to step onto the court for free. Thanks to the club’s commitment, a qualified coach provides weekly lessons, with all necessary equipment provided, so that every participant can experience the joy of the game without barriers.
The idea was born from a simple yet powerful desire: the club wanted to engage in a solidarity-driven project. Financial challenges remain a hurdle, but the search for supporters and sponsors continues, as the enthusiasm of the players and their dedication to the program are a constant source of motivation. Seeing the smiles on the court, witnessing the connections being made, and feeling the shared pride among the entire club team – that is what gives this project its true meaning.
Each year, Tennis for All evolves to better meet the needs of its participants. Its long-term goal? To make sport a sustainable tool for social integration. Because beyond the rallies and matches, this project fosters friendships, a sense of community, and true team spirit. As the club puts it: "A social project like this brings satisfaction and pride to all its members."
Seeing the smiles on the court, witnessing the connections being made, and feeling the shared pride among the entire club team – that is what gives this project its true meaning.
