How did a single idea in 1944 grow into 80 years of service to society?
While in exile in London, Her Royal Highness Grande-Duchesse Charlotte founded the Œuvre Nationale de Secours to support victims of the Second World War. Just weeks later, a national call for donations invited everyone to contribute part of their salary. The result was extraordinary: 4.6 million francs raised.
To secure this mission’s future, the Loterie Nationale was created. That same year, its first draw began a tradition of dedicating 100% of net profits to philanthropic efforts.
Since 1945, over 543 million euros have been distributed to beneficiaries, transforming lives across Luxembourg. In just the last decade, thousands of projects have been supported. For the past five years, the Loterie Nationale has upheld the European Lotteries Certification for Responsible Gaming, demonstrating its commitment to fairness and trust.
For 80 years, the Œuvre Nationale and the Loterie Nationale have embodied resilience and generosity, building a brighter future for all.
