Solina Solidarité Jeunes, an organization dedicated to supporting children and young people from various structures such as foster homes and psychological services, has as its main mission to promote academic success. The project aims to provide financial support for tutoring courses, thus improving academic performance and preventing dropout. The project aims to provide financial support for tutoring courses, thus improving academic performance and preventing dropout.
Delfina Beirão, project representative, explains: "With the increase in the number of young people from very diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring homework and catching up on academic delays has become a real challenge for educators in recent years.". The need to provide additional assistance for these young people has become evident.
Regarding the implementation of the project, Mrs. Beirão emphasizes: "This is an ongoing action." Regarding the financial support from the organization, the grant has been invested throughout the school year and will be used up before the start of the school holidays. However, the challenge lies in finding professionals to provide support classes, especially in subjects such as mathematics and languages.
Despite these challenges, Solina Solidarité Jeunes finds solutions by working with various organizations and private individuals to ensure the necessary courses. Delfina Beirão also shares moments of great satisfaction, especially when young people succeed thanks to the help provided.
She explains: "What stands out to us are the 'special' requests that we can fulfill thanks to the donation to the organization: A young girl who, while on sick leave waiting for psychiatric hospitalization, asked to be able to have classes at home so as not to accumulate too much school delay or another teenager who can take a preparation course for 6 months in order to pass the entrance exam to medical school."
For Solina Solidarité Jeunes, the project will never be completed. This is more of an ongoing program that will always require donations to support young people in their educational journey. Mrs. Beirão also emphasizes the importance of providing educators with the necessary resources to facilitate their work.
"The educational staff working in foster homes do a remarkable job of providing safety and well-being to children and young people in need. It is essential to provide educators with all the support they need to facilitate their work in the field, such as supervised support courses led by external professionals."
The motivation of Solina Solidarité Jeunes lies in the desire to make young people independent from aid systems by promoting their success. Their implicit motto is to continue creating an environment conducive to the development and success of young people.
The message from Solina Solidarité Jeunes is clear: to understand and support the story of each young person in order to better shape their future.
