Mary-Audrey Ramirez, a multidisciplinary artist, takes us into a captivating universe with her latest project: Forced amnesia. This third-person adventure video game offers a zen approach to gaming, a unique experience where exploration and discovery are at the heart of the adventure.
Ramirez tells us how the idea of FORCED AMNESIA came about:
Since 2017, I have been working with the idea of creating video games. I was able to create three small applications with the help of a programmer from 2017 to 2019. However, I quickly realized that creating a video game with the aesthetics and quality that I imagine would take a lot of time, a good team, and funding…

Mary-Audrey and her team worked diligently to bring this vision to life.
"First of all, I'd like to say that the whole team did a fantastic job, communication within the team was clear, transparent and supportive. I am more than satisfied with how the game went, its atmosphere, its graphics, and its story."
The team had to demonstrate adaptability in the face of numerous technical and logistical challenges. "I wanted to publish monthly updates on the game, but it turned out to be impossible to achieve because things were evolving quickly and we realized that a monthly update would disrupt the team's workflow, " she explains. "The team and I have decided to set aside the idea of monthly updates and focus solely on the production of FORCED AMNESIA."
The result? A promising video game that has already generated positive reactions.
"The feedback so far has been quite positive," says Mary-Audrey. "The team and I are looking forward to continuing the game and we are working on its development as many more stories remain to be told in the world of FORCED AMNESIA."
In addition to its development, FORCED AMNESIA is about to be presented at exhibitions and festivals. "The game is also planned to be featured in an upcoming solo exhibition at the Arthena Foundation in Düsseldorf in June 2024," she reveals. "And it will also be featured in my upcoming monograph with DISTANZ."

This project marks an important milestone in Mary-Audrey Ramirez's artistic journey.
"Making a video game requires a lot of work," she shares. "Certain things need to be decided quite early during production, which I found quite challenging compared to my usual way of creating, but I have learned from this experience and it has changed certain aspects of my practice."
In the long term, Mary-Audrey hopes that FORCED AMNESIA will open new doors and possibilities. "We aim to showcase the game at exhibitions, fairs, and festivals, " she said.
For Mary-Audrey Ramirez, FORCED AMNESIA is much more than just a video game. This is an artistic exploration, an immersive adventure that transcends the boundaries of digital art.
I want to create stories that are out of the ordinary. I suppose that my motivation is to find ways to navigate and express myself with new tools and media.
