A place dedicated to soft mobility in Esch-sur-Alzette.
Œuvre Nationale is proud to have supported the creation of the "House of Bicycle" (Haus vum Vëlo) in Esch-sur-Alzette, an ambitious project aimed at promoting sustainable mobility and active use of bicycles in Luxembourg. Thanks to its funding, Œuvre has helped transform this initiative into a unique and dynamic place dedicated to cyclists from all backgrounds.
An initiative for sustainable mobility and the circular economy.
Located in a space generously provided by the CFL, "Haus vum Vëlo" offers residents and visitors a place where they can not only learn how to maintain their bikes, but also come together around the values of eco-responsibility and solidarity. By highlighting the RepairCafés model, the project facilitates bike repairs and trains users in simple and cost-effective maintenance practices. This pedagogical aspect allows to strengthen the autonomy of cyclists while creating links between participants.
A place for meeting and sharing
In addition to its technical aspect, the Maison du Vélo encourages exchanges and sharing of experiences around cycling. Whether it's for practical advice on local routes or discussing best practices in mobility, this place aims to be a meeting point for cycling enthusiasts. Cyclists can also get second-hand bikes and parts, a gesture that is part of the circular economy approach and helps limit waste.
For more sustainable and accessible mobility for everyone.
At Œuvre, we firmly believe that this project can inspire real change for sustainable mobility in Luxembourg. By offering workshops for companies, schools, and associations, the Maison du Vélo opens up a dialogue about practical and beneficial transportation alternatives for health.
The Maison du Vélo is a great example of what we can achieve together: a place that promotes exchange, solidarity, and a more sustainable mobility for a brighter future. Together, let's drive towards a greener future!
