The project

Generation Z is defined by its relationships and activities on virtual platforms, rather than by its relationships in physical reality. It's a reductive stereotype that's far from true, and we've decided to prove the opposite by taking a fresh look at youth as young people. As young people from Esch, we want to talk about what we know best: ourselves.

That's how the “Digital Crew” – a rather diverse group – came to be formed around image education, with the aim of making a documentary film entitled “Z-key”.

Realization

In a group, everyone's availability can vary, and this can sometimes complicate matters. Getting everyone together for the day of shooting or the date of the meeting is often a challenge. Then it's a matter of getting everyone to agree on the script, in all its aspects: language, ideas, music…

Our desire is to be back at the Ariston in front of the public, the collaborators, the artists/participants and the team, and to rejoice in the fact that we have succeeded!

However, by letting each team member express his or her wishes, we always managed to find common ground that satisfied everyone. What's more, despite the pandemic, we've remained proactive and dynamic.

Right now, we're in the process of finalizing our last shots for the fundamental parts of our documentary. Thereafter, each member of the group will work independently on editing his or her chosen theme.

We've learned that you have to give a lot more of your free time than you think if you want to satisfy yourself and your audience. You have to dare, test, be curious, never give up and enjoy discovering new tools and techniques. But above all, you have to put your whole heart into it if you want the result to be satisfying both in your own eyes and in the eyes of others.

It's a joy to see your creative ideas take shape. Seeing the result makes us happy and proud of our work.

Objective

Our desire is to be back at the Ariston in front of the public, the collaborators, the artists/participants and the team, and to rejoice in the fact that we have succeeded! All our efforts over the last few years have paid off, and will perhaps change the negative view some people have of young people. The most important thing for us is to be able to give young people a new perspective.
