Focus area Mémoire & Patrimoine
Œuvre offers support for study trips and exchanges for young people aged 12 to 27.
The objective is to promote active citizenship and to encourage young people to explore different cultures, become more independent and gain new skills. By promoting understanding and empathy, we aim to combat prejudices and racism and to create a more unified society.
This type of funding may be requested by primary schools, secondary schools and associations. The trips may include a wide variety of activities such as study excursions to learn about different topics related to culture, the environment, remembrance, health or solidarity, and meeting locals from other countries.
Your organisation is:
- a non-profit association
- a foundation
- a company that has the status of societal impact company (SIS), with impact shares representing 100% of the share capital
- a public sector establishment
- or an educational institution
Three types of activity are possible as part of the trip:
- Study trip: research a topic related to culture, the environment, remembrance and heritage, health or solidarity, and meet resource people in the chosen activity area
- Develop a local partnership that conducts an initiative similar to that of the organisation, class or group
- Organise an exchange between young people from different countries: learn how to get to know young people from other cultures, explore similarities and differences around issues of common interest
- The trips are intended for young people aged 12 to 27.
- The minimum length of the trip is 3 days; the maximum length is 15 days.
- The group must comprise a minimum of four young people.
- The number of chaperones is limited to one for every eight young people (exemptions are possible on a case-by-case basis based on the target audience).
- Eligible costs are transportation, accommodation, costs of cultural excursions and sports activities (excluding competitions).
- Non-eligible costs are meals, leisure activities and non-cultural activities.
- The maximum lump sum is €850 per person (for the young people and chaperones). This amount may be reduced based on the length of the trip.
- Œuvre's contribution may not exceed 50% of the total budget. For trips by train, Œuvre's contribution may amount to 60% of the budget. For non-profit associations, exemptions are possible on a case-by-case basis.
- Principle of non-retroactive funding: your project must be approved by the board of directors before the start date of the trip. (We recommend that you check the project submission dates on our website.)
- Trip destinations: Europe and international.
- Development of an educational concept that outlines the educational objectives of the trip – such as gaining new knowledge specific to the place visited, improving language skills, developing intercultural and social skills.
- Exchanges between young people from diverse places that foster intercultural interaction and sharing ideas between participants from different countries
- Exchange that relates mainly to culture and/or the environment and/or health and/or solidarity and/or remembrance and heritage
- Having a partner connected to the trip's objective in the destination country (e.g. local organisations, school, special-interest groups, cultural institutions, research centres, museums)
- Exploring other cultures, forging intercultural friendships that promote mutual respect, strengthening the sense of belonging to Europe
- Project developed around a common theme that may culminate in a creative product, such as an exhibition, play, video, interdisciplinary group creation, concert or publication.
- Participants are actively involved in the different stages of the project (preparation, execution, assessment).
To submit an application, log in to our project submission platform. This platform allows you to create your user account, which you can use to submit applications, save forms you are working on and view applications you have already submitted.
Before you can access the full form, you must submit an introductory form in which you indicate the type of financial assistance you would like to request. On this form, you will provide a short description of your project. We can then check whether you meet the eligibility criteria.
Œuvre will double-check the eligibility criteria, and if you are told that you meet them, access to the "Application form for a one-off grant for study trips" will be unblocked. Only forms that have been completed in full will be considered for funding requests, and they will be processed during the board of directors proceedings.
NB: The forms are in French, but they may also be filled out in Luxembourgish, German or English.
